The NAPE Blackhorse Hockey League express our deepest condolences on the passing of Glenn Byrne at the young age of 55.

Glenn played in the League for several years throughout the early 2000s and was a great hockey player, and an even better person. Those of us who knew Glenn will tell you that he always had a smile on his face.

Glenn worked at the Sherriff’s office until the time of his passing.

In recent years he courageously battled several illnesses, including cancer and most recently heart failure.

We send our thoughs and prayers to Glenn’s family.

Sportsmanship Awards Presented!

This past Sunday night, Sportsmanship awards were handed out by our referee, Jesse Wilkins, who created this award, and has graciously donated the prizes. Jesse had started this award last season with two winners announced, Bob Royle and Steve Pearce. This season, Jesse has decided to expand this award to include 1 player from each team.

The award recognizes a player who best represents the spirit and values of our League. It includes, but is not limited to, sportsmanship(on and off the ice), attendance (players who show up most every night), and generally a player who contributes to the League. This could include gathering the pucks after warm ups, or just leading by example by demonstrating our League values, by their conduct on the ice.

We are very proud to announce the winners for this season! Greg Pike, Jordan Lee, Jon Bennett and Paul Bowering were chosen by Jesse, as the players who best demonstrated these qualities this season. Congratulations to all of you !
