The League would like to announce that the date for the Annual General Meeting is September 25th at 7:30 at the Newfoundland Embassy, 2nd floor. The Embassy is located across from the Mary Brown’s Centre, and is the same location that we had the AGM last year.
Exciting news! You asked for it, now we have it!
Check out the “Previous Seasons” tab on the bottom of the home page to see League stats from the infancy of the League up to and including last season.
There a a few gaps in the early years, and stats were not as in depth as they are now, But it is a fascinating retrospective of our League history, statistically.
Thanks to League historian, solid winger, and all around all-star Bob Royle for providing these stats.
Brad’s partner has asked us to share this with the League:
“You’re invited to play in the Brad Kerrivan Memorial Tourney at Yetman’s Arena on Saturday, Sept 23rd from 5-10pm. Food will be provided and will be included in registration. Beer will be provided at a cost of 2 for $5. Teams will be drafted the week of the tournament, once we have a finalized list of the players that will be involved. Games will have a ref as well. The Nape hockey League has decided to have a full League banquet this year. We are excited, as this will be the first such event since Covid. Due to some logistical issues, the banquet will take place on July 15 at the Geraldine Rubia Centre on Shaw Street. We are asking for a minimum $10 donation at the door, to be forwarded on to the Rubia Centre to aid them in the wonderful work they do.
Your team reps will be in touch, as we are hoping to get an indication of how many players are going to be attending.
Congratulations to Bellman’s on winning the League Championship on Sunday night with a 9-6 victory over Vail’s, in a hard fought series that went the distance.
The NAPE Hockey League is announcing the establishment of the Josh Nolan Memorial Playoffs Point Leader Award, starting for the 2022-2023 season playoffs. This award will be given annually to the player that scored the most points throughout the playoffs for the season, total goals and assists.
The award is named in memory of Josh Nolan, a member of the NAPE hockey league in 2021-2022 season who scored the most points in the playoffs that year. In his approach to the game Josh demonstrated passion, enthusiasm and a competitive spirit, stepping up his play when the team needed him. Tragically Josh passed away August 2022, but he leaves behind a legacy of enthusiasm, sportsmanship and skill. Josh loved the game, and his former teammates and the NAPE league are proud to celebrate his memory and legacy each year through this award.
The winner will be recognized at the NAPE end of season awards ceremony and their name will be added to the Josh Nolan Memorial Trophy.
We have decided to cancel League games on Sunday February 12th. These games have been added to the end of the regular season schedule.
Due to the Stars on Ice Figure Skating show, games at the Mary Brown’s Centre scheduled for Monday November 28th have been postponed, and will be added at the end of the regular season.
The AGM has been scheduled for Monday September 26th at 7:30 at the Newfoundland Embassy Pub and Eatery (Second Floor). This is located directly across from Mile One in the old Lar’s building. Please make an attempt to come, as this is your chance to discuss rule changes, League issues, or to put your name forward to serve on the League exec.
