Coronavirus Updates

We have received updates from both of our arenas. As of right now, and this information may change as things are updating quickly, Feildian Gardens will remain open for private skates but Mile One is closing for all skates.

Our Sunday skates will continue as scheduled and we are working to reschedule our Monday skates. As of this moment it looks as if the Monday skates will be added to the end of the schedule.

Our top priority has been and continues to be player safety. If you attend the games we ask that you take any and all necessary precautions to prevent spreading any germs. Wash your hands for at least twenty seconds, cover your face when coughing and sneezing, and stay home when you do not feel well.

Here is a message from the management staff at Feildian:

As you are aware, countries worldwide are dealing with the outbreak of COVID-19. The Safety of you and your team/group members is our highest priority. According to the latest information from the Department of Health, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to be extremely low in Newfoundland.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now, our provincial association (HockeyNL) has suspended all sanctioned events. Just to clarify, most privately ran groups do not fall under this jurisdiction, so until such time that local health care professionals deem it unsafe we will continue to operate business as usual.

Keeping that in mind and safety at the forefront, we are working closely with our cleaning company and have increased our cleaning schedule to include; frequently disinfecting handrails (inside and out), shower attachments, change room hangers & door openers. We also would urge you (the group leader) to share information with your respective members. It would be wise to contact your group members (especially those who have recently travelled) to determine if anyone is feeling unwell or suffering from flu-like symptoms. If so, please insist they not participate until medically cleared.

Please see the attached information for preventative measures and guidelines. Rest assured, we are monitoring this very closely and will continue to update you as new information comes available.

If you have any questions, please call the provincial Healthline at 811 or TTY 1-888-709-3555.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
